Delivering the Atlas

The Atlas uses Vercel for web hosting and Supabase for the database and media infrastructure that delivers its public cultural content. These providers may process ordinary technical request information—such as an IP address and browser, device or network information—to deliver, operate and secure the website.

My Greece Atlas does not use this technical information to create personal visitor profiles.

My Atlas and Atlas Challenge

Your cultural and game progress is kept in your browser using local storage. It may include completed rounds, results, points, photography you have encountered or recognised, milestones, statistics and linked cultural destinations.

This progress does not currently include your name, email address, account ID, payment information, precise location or a device identifier. There are no consumer web accounts, so progress is not synchronised to an MGA account. It remains in that browser until you clear it, reset it through My Atlas, or the browser removes it.

The Collector experience also uses short-lived session storage to support its visual transition between routes.

Search

Search terms are reflected in the page URL and server request. They may therefore appear in normal browser history or routine hosting logs. My Greece Atlas does not currently keep a separate persistent search-history profile.

Maps and location

OpenFreeMap provides map tiles. Loading a map or tile necessarily sends ordinary network information, such as an IP address and request details, to the tile service.

If you choose the location control, your browser asks for permission and uses your location to position the map. Location is not requested automatically, persisted by My Greece Atlas, or written to Supabase by the current web Atlas.

Print purchases

When you choose to acquire a print, My Greece Atlas creates or validates the selected print and cart through Shopify. Checkout takes place on Shopify-hosted checkout, where Shopify processes checkout, customer and payment information under the applicable Shopify and merchant policies. My Greece Atlas does not store payment-card details.

A limited private order archive is retained through the Shopify webhook integration. It may include the customer name, destination country, order identifier and date, price and currency, payment, refund and fulfilment status, and the selected print options.

Order information is kept only as long as reasonably necessary for fulfilment, customer support, business records, accounting or legal obligations, dispute resolution and legitimate operational needs, subject to applicable law.

External services

Films, music providers and other cultural or source links may take you to third-party services governed by their own privacy practices. The Atlas does not currently embed a YouTube player. Shopify-hosted checkout is a separate service and domain and may use its own cookies and privacy controls.

Analytics, cookies and browser storage

With your consent, the public web Atlas uses Google Analytics, provided by Google, to understand aggregate site usage, performance and content engagement. Google Analytics is not loaded and analytics cookies are not set unless you choose “Accept analytics” in the Atlas consent banner or settings.

This integration is limited to analytics. It does not enable advertising, personalised ads, ad storage, ad user data or ad personalisation. You can withdraw or change your analytics choice at any time through “Cookie settings” in the public Atlas footer. Choosing to decline prevents Google Analytics from loading on future public page visits.

The local and session storage described above is browser storage, not a cookie. The consent preference itself is kept in local storage so the Atlas can remember your choice. This policy will be updated if the Atlas’s use of cookies or similar technologies changes.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances and applicable GDPR or EEA law, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data; restrict or object to processing; receive portable data; and withdraw consent where processing relies on consent. These rights are not absolute and may be subject to legal conditions or exceptions.

International processing

Service providers may process information outside Greece or the EEA. Where applicable, this processing is subject to the safeguards used by those providers and required by data-protection law.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated as the web Atlas develops or legal and operational requirements change. The date above will show when the latest version was published.
